Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built directly into your device. Instead of inserting a physical plastic card, you activate your data plan by scanning a QR code in your phone settings.
How quickly will I receive my eSIM after purchase?
Your eSIM QR code and activation instructions are delivered by email within seconds of successful payment — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What is the difference between eSIM and a regular SIM?
A physical SIM is a plastic card that must be inserted into your phone. An eSIM is software-based — no physical card, no tools needed. You can store multiple eSIM profiles on one device and switch between them.
Compatibility
How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?
Go to Settings → About Phone (Android) or Settings → General → About (iPhone). Look for an EID number — if present, your phone supports eSIM.
Can I use an eSIM and my regular SIM at the same time?
Yes. Most dual-SIM phones let you use your home SIM for calls/SMS and the eSIM for data. Your regular number stays active the whole time.
Data & Plans
What happens when I use up all my data?
Your data plan stops. You will need to purchase a top-up or a new plan. We do not automatically charge you or throttle to slower speeds.
Do the plans include calls and SMS?
Most of our plans are data-only. We recommend using WhatsApp, FaceTime, or other VoIP apps for calls and messaging while abroad.
Refunds & Support
What is your refund policy?
If your eSIM has not been activated (QR code not scanned), we offer a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Once activated, it is non-refundable as the data plan is provisioned.
My eSIM is not connecting. What do I do?
Try these steps: 1) Toggle Airplane Mode on and off. 2) Confirm the eSIM data plan is selected under Cellular Data settings. 3) Ensure Data Roaming is enabled. 4) Restart your device. If still not working, contact us at support@globalvirtualsim.com or use our live chat.
